Our Work
2nd country safe harbor
Our students need a safe place to live outside Afghanistan while they await embassy interviews for their student visa.

why it’s needed
Why students must leave Afghanistan
Some need to be evacuated even before they have secured a school with a great scholarship (which we assist in finding) because their fathers are threatening to sell them to afford to feed the rest of his family (yes, it’s a real thing and becoming far too common).
Some are threatened with forced marriage to the Taliban, Afghanistan being a place of polygamy where the pressures are great to get married or face deprivation.
All need a country to fly out of to school, as the Taliban ban young women from flying from Kabul even with a mahram, as they have become aware the overwhelming majority of them are trying to escape to go to school.
Hence, we have long ago set up safehouses where the girls can live in peace and security, outside of Afghanistan, with valid visas.
life in our safe homes
Living their lives as humans
From our homes they are able to cook together, laugh as they can, work together on finding scholarships and on practicing their English, get good at learning a MacBook laptop, play a musical instrument they are banned from playing in Afghanistan, speak loudly enough to be heard outside their house unlike back home, head to the local market without being encased in head to toe clothing to hide their features, sing, be outside without a mahram and just live their lives as humans.

moving onward
ASRF strives to provide these safe harbors for as many students as we can get funded. Many spend many months, some even a year or so, before we together are able to move them onward to their futures.
Stand with our students
Help our students in the US and Malaysia and more brilliant Afghan students pursue their education.
