Afghan Scout Relief Fund
Since 2021, the Afghan Scout Relief Fund has done what many thought impossible—rescuing students, primarily young women, and helping them rebuild their lives through education.
Our Vision
Since the fall of 2021, ASRF has developed a highly effective program to identify, support, and safely relocate Afghan students to continue their education. We have successfully guided 36 students from Afghanistan, through Pakistan, and into the U.S. to attend school.
As U.S. immigration policies shift, we are expanding our efforts globally—now placing students in top English-language programs in countries such as Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Malta, and more.
We do not turn away any qualified student accepted to a school outside Afghanistan if we have the means to help. When rescue organizations reach out, we mobilize our proven system to guide students to safety and opportunity.
ASRF is committed to this life-saving work for as long as we have the capacity and support to continue.
Our Mission
The Afghan Scout Relief Fund rescues Afghan students—primarily high-achieving young women—and supports them in continuing their education and rebuilding their futures with freedom, dignity, and opportunity. Since 2021, we have helped Afghan girls who were denied access to education in their homeland. Against all odds, we have brought them to the United States to resume their studies and pursue their dreams.
ASRF Who We Are
-
Our Story
Afghan Scout Relief Fund launched in the Fall of 2021when Steve Gates answered a desperate call from Afghan Scout leaders in the wake of the Taliban's take-over after US troop withdrawal. Their need was urgent – the Taliban were hunting them down to destroy them, their families and anyone involved with Afghan Scouting. With the help of some very influential and caring people, a rescue mission was formed.

How We Work
For almost 4 years we’ve coordinated with other Afghan support groups around the world to achieve our mission. We’re one of only two teams who do this incredibly detailed, hands-on work with Afghan students. *
These are the steps we have been taking to extricate young women from Afghanistan to U.S. schools:
o Identify top caliber students in Afghanistan
o Gain family permission and visas to Pakistan
o Move them to Pakistan safely and legally

One Miracle At A Time
What has happened to them since has been catastrophic: forced and early marriage, domestic violence, suicide, drug addiction and an eradication from all aspects of public life, with no end in sight
