How We Work
We coordinate with other Afghan Support groups around the world to achieve our mission. We’re one of only two teams who do this incredibly detailed, hands-on work with Afghan students. *
These are the steps we have been taking to extricate young women from Afghanistan to U.S. schools:
o Identify top caliber students in Afghanistan
o Gain family permission and visas to Pakistan
o Move them to Pakistan safely and legally
o House and take care of them while in Pakistan,
o Coach them for the F1 (student) visa interview at the consulate
o Fly them to the US, where we have found schools (and sponsor families if going to high school)
o Equip them with a new computer, phone, clothes, school supplies, dorm supplies
o Provide students with essential services (dental, mental health counseling, urgent care, academic support, personal and schools supplies and much more)
As we rushed to evacuate as many students as we could prior to the US travel bans, our volunteers and supporters worked heroically to help these girls make their way out and into safety. Donors have been incredibly generous and dig deep to support our work
Our U.S. program has been costing a minimum of $15,000 per student just to get them out and safely moved here set up for school and life in the U.S.
Our Work Today
Our work today is the same but different --- now that U.S. immigration policies have radically changed.
After almost 4 years, with a solid infrastructure in place and thousands of hours of dangerous work, we know how to do this work - but more schoolgirls are awaiting our help. Our program continues even as politics and governments change. The whole world is watching the horrors in Afghanistan …
