Afghan Scout Relief Fund (ASRF) was established. Teams were formed in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the U.S. and life-saving conduits were set up to move Scouts and their families. Afghan Scout Relief Fund was able to rescue and move 5 Afghan Scout families (29 people). An “underground railroad” was established (and still exists to this day!) to move individuals in danger out of harm’s way.

The ASRF teams soon realized the need was so much greater! It became clear that girls who want to continue their studies safely needed to leave Afghanistan. A decision was made to grow the mission to include extracting girls who could be accepted to schools in the U.S. A network of Afghan girls studying under the radar throughout Afghanistan began to grow. ASRF was introduced to ‘The Girls College” in Kabul who were working with 200 young women students to keep their studies going under leadership of teachers
